All of the passengers, including the 5 crewmembers were taken to shore on coast guard vessels and civilian fishing boats. The rescue operation was successful because the ferry wasn’t flooded.
According to the coast guard, the vessel hit the rock while trying to avoid a fishing boat, and was traveling in foggy waters.
