The Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) has launched its fifth Ship Reporting System Survey dealing with the fair treatment of seafarers.
In 2008, BIMCO began to develop a formalised ship reporting system to collect as much practical and relevant shipping information as possible in order to increase its advocacy role in international shipping.
The initial surveys were carried with companies including Clipper Group (Denmark), Horizon Lines (USA), Wallenius Lines (Sweden), Wilhelmsen (Norway), Zodiac Maritime (UK) and NYK (Japan).
The latest survey is part BIMCOs preparation of a paper on the fair treatment of seafarers to be presented at the International Maritime Organisation.
