ExxonMobil’s Mobil SHC Aware Gear Series, a range of high performance Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL), has been approved by leading marine gear and seal manufacturers.
Thruster builders, including Nakashima, HHI Hyundai and KTE Nakashima Korea, have endorsed use of the oils following approvals by seal manufacturers Kemel, BVI and Hwaseung R&A.
Mobil SHC Aware Gear Series offers excellent wear protection and safeguards equipment from rust and corrosion. It also possesses outstanding oxidation properties, which help to extend oil life, and offers a wide operating temperature range and excellent low temperature start-up.
The lubricants, which comply with the US Vessel General Permit (VGP), provide high performance under extreme conditions. Furthermore, they protect from cavitation and their excellent seal compatibility helps to minimize leaks.
“Mobil SHC Aware Gear Series helps operators not only comply with the VGP legislation but it also raises the bar in terms of equipment protection,” said Iain White, global marketing manager for ExxonMobil Marine Fuels and Lubricants.
“These manufacturer approvals are further proof that Mobil SHC Aware Gear Series can offer long oil life even when operating under extreme conditions.”
Mobil SHC Aware Gear Series comprises three grades: Mobil SHC Aware Gear 68, 100 and 150. The Mobil SHC Aware range of EALs also includes a stern tube oil, a hydraulic oil and a general deck grease.
