Equinor released a statement informing that its oil storage terminal in the Bahamas has been damaged by the Hurricane Dorian that hit the area. According to the statement, all crew had already evacuated the terminal and are safe.
The Hurricane Dorian passed over the Abaco Islands on September 1 as a Category 5 storm. While Hurricane Dorian has already passed through the Bahamas causing major disruptions in the area, and also left Florida with little effect, Dorian is now heading for the Mid-Atlantic causing wind and rain to Georgia and the Carolinas.

The company expressed their concerns over the devastation that followed after the hurricane. The company added that the safety of the personnel is a priority.
All Equinor personnel in the Bahamas are now confirmed safe and accounted for.

Although Equinor informed of no oil spill in the sea, the company stated that from an aerial assessment of the South Riding Point facility they found that the terminal has sustained damage and oil has been observed on the ground outside of the onshore tanks.
Given the information of the hurricane approaching, Equinor had shut down operations of the terminal at August 31; In that way, the personnel had time to depart the terminal and be close to their families.
