According to news, on 10th June a fire erupted on a Turkish-owned cargo ship, Yaf Horizon, while it was docked at the port of Haifa, leading to a significant emergency response.
As explained, the Yaf Horizon had arrived from Russia on June 9, carrying iron or steel, and was moored at Israel Shipyards in Haifa’s Kishon district.
Local first responders from the Kiryot fire station and a tug from the Haifa Marine Transport Company worked together to extinguish the fire, which was located in the engine room. Officials indicated that the fire was not caused by a drone strike or gunfire.
The Yaf Horizon, an 8,300 dwt freighter owned by an Istanbul-based shipping company.
Before arriving in Haifa, the Yaf Horizon’s previous journey took it to Novorossiysk, Russia, on the Black Sea. During its return, the ship’s AIS signal was spoofed twice—once by the Simferopol Airport AIS disruption affecting Crimea, and a second time by a disruption near Beirut International Airport.
