A two-year project on maritime safety, security and marine environment
On 16 June EMSA began atwo-year project on maritimesafety, security and marineenvironmental protectionfor the TRACECA coastalstates, at the request of theEuropean Commission’sdevelopment and cooperationdirectorate-general.
Thisambitious programme aims to support political and economicdevelopment in the Black Sea Region, Caucasus and CentralAsia as well as to facilitate integration into the internationaleconomy through improved trade and transport.
The projectwas originally launched in 1993 and is financed through theEuropean Neighbourhood Policy Instrument. EMSA’s assistancewill contribute towards raising the level of maritime safetyand marine pollution prevention, preparedness and responsestandards in the Black Sea and Caspian Sea.
The beneficiarycountries will receive technical assistance on specific topics inthe area of Flag State Implementation, PSC and environmentalprotection.
Additionally, the beneficiary countries will haveaccess to certain operational tools, such as the CleanSeaNet service and the network of stand-by oil spill recovery vessels.
