Elyse Energy announced a financing operation with Hy24 and Mirova to support the development of its e-methanol and energy fuels projects sustainable aviation (SAF) in France and Spain.
As explained, this financing operation with Hy24, through its hydrogen infrastructure fund, and Mirova, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers dedicated to sustainable finance, is structuring for Elyse Energy. It aims to accelerate the development of its most advanced projects in France and Spain, with industrial commissioning planned in 2027 and 2028.
With a portfolio of projects at different stages of development in France and the Iberian Peninsula, Elyse Energy will combine nearly 2.5 GW of installed power for an annual production of more than 1 million tonnes of e-methanol and 200,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuels. Elyse Energy is thus one of the leading players in e-fuels in Europe.
These molecules, commonly also called “e-fuels”, are in fact essential for the decarbonization of air and maritime transport. They are also necessary for the decarbonization of certain processing industries which use them for their chemical properties.
For example, the eM-Rhône project, located on the Roches-Roussillon chemical platform (Isère, France) and selected by the European Innovation Fund, targets the annual production of 150,000 tonnes of green e-methanol intended for the maritime sector and industry. The BioTJet project, presented by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron last June, aims for the annual production of 75,000 tonnes of e-biokerosene and 30,000 tonnes of naphtha in the Lacq basin
E-fuels represent a unique opportunity to reconcile decarbonization, sovereignty and reindustrialization in France and Europe. As with gas and renewable electricity, the mobilization of private capital will be crucial to finance the creation of this new sector.
..said Pascal Pénicaud, president of Elyse Energy.
Sustainable fuels are essential for the decarbonization of the maritime and aviation sectors, and their deployment cannot be done without decarbonized hydrogen. Hy24 is today the reference partner for the most advanced hydrogen project developers in France and around the world, and is participating in the construction of this ecosystem with other players invested in the energy transition.
…said Pierre-Etienne Franc, Managing Director and co-founder of Hy24.
