Supporting seafarers and families after incidents of piracy
The Nederlandse Zeemancentrale (Dutch Seamen’s Association) has generously supported the Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Fund.
The MPHRF is the Fund, managed by The Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Programme (MPHRP) that provides for practical support given to seafarers and families who have been left destitute after incidents of piracy. One hundred percent of all donations to the Fund, is given to seafarers and families in need.
The Nederlandse Zeemancentrale (NZC) is a member of MPHRP’s partner organisation, the International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA).
In a letter to MPHRP, Wim van Til, secretary at NZC, wrote: “The Management of the NZC is deeply moved by the stories of seafarers and families who suffer the consequences of piracy. We are concerned about the enormous humanitarian impact that piracy has on seafarers and their loved ones. It is great that you are there for them. We appreciate what you do for the victims and their kin. We would like to show our solidarity with these seafarers by showing them the support they deserve. We wish you all the best.“
