Drydocks World reports it has delivered seismic vessel Polarcus Selma
Drydocks World reports it has delivered seismic vessel Polarcus Selma, the latest in a series of six vessels ordered by Dubai-based marine geophysical services company Polarcus.
The vessel is described as an ultra-modern and Arctic-ready 8 streamer 3D seismic vessel of the Ulstein SX133 design capable of towing both conventional and wide tow spreads, including the Company’s First PassTM 3D technique. The SX133 design has an overall length of 84.2m, a beam of 17m and a maximum speed of 17 knots.
“We have proven yet again that we have extensive new building capabilities for constructing highly sophisticated and best-in-class vessels equipped with precision-driven and sensitive equipment,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World.
Drydocks World is a major shareholder in Polarcus, which recently announced a deal with Sovcomflot to enter the rapidly growing Russian market. Peter Zickerman, Polarcus eve, commented: “This important agreement will afford Polarcus and Sovcomflot unparalleled access to the Russian market and most significantly to possibly the world’s last and largest oil frontier, the Arctic. We believe this agreement will be just the beginning of a long and successful relationship with Russia’s largest shipping company as they aspire to broaden their focus from energy transportation to energy supply.
