Esuring compliance with MLC 2006
The entry into force of the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC 2006 Regulation 3.2) in August 2013 requires ship owners to carry out “regular comprehensive documented testing of the ship’s drinking water supplies” in accordance with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.
To help ship owners and operators comply with the above requirement of being certified at intervals of at least once within six months and to ensure high quality drinking water standards, DNV Petroleum Services (DNVPS) has developed a Water Quality Monitoring programme.
Leveraging the network of ISO 17025 laboratories, knowledgeable testing and inspection staff, DNVPS has developed a complete testing and certification package for customers.
The Water Quality Monitoring package which will be available in Rotterdam, Antwerp and Amsterdam from mid-November for sample collection, includes sample transportation, a chemical and microbiological analysis – available the next working day – compliant with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines, and a certificate of quality.
