DNV GL and M.A.C. Solutions have signed a partnership agreement to cooperate in fleet performance management services. DNV GL will incorporate information from M.A.C.‘s onboard data collection system “SDBnet” into its ECO Insight solution, which will provide advanced fleet performance analytics based on M.A.C. onboard data.
“We have complementary strengths. This partnership will enhance both solutions and provide even better services to M.A.C and DNV GL customers. We have very advanced data collection and management capabilities, DNV GL adds advanced analytics and market benchmarks based on their hydrodynamics and Big Data capabilities.”says Thomas Priebe, Managing Director of M.A.C Solutions,
“ECO Insight works with many different data sources, so we like to work quality autologging providers like M.A.C., giving shipping companies options to choose from” says Dr. Torsten Büssow, Global Head of Fleet Performance Management DNV GL – Maritime. “ECO Insight creates additional performance insights with this data, for example on hull and engine degradation, fuel quality or with benchmarks to market averages or satellite weather. DNV GL and M.A.C have been working together on customer projects over some months and we are very happy with the cooperation,” he adds.
M.A.C.’s SDBnet system is a modern web-based soft- and hardware platform to exchange data between non stationary vessels and a centralized stationary data base at shore. Data is manually reported by the vessel crew and optionally collected by additional hardware components directly from available sensors on board. The collected information is transmitted to shore and processed by the office system where it is displayed for further analysis. Monitoring modules for full ship performance, shaft power, trim/list, fuel consumption as well as electricity consumption are available.
DNV GL’s performance management portal ECO Insight provides a comprehensive and easily accessible way to manage the performance of a fleet, including voyage, hull & propeller, engine & systems performance. It enriches customers’ own fleet reports with industry data, such as information from AIS (automatic identification system) as well as weather reports and fuel consumption data, and provides unique benchmarking capabilities. Advanced engineering methods, for example hull fouling prediction based on CFD, are also packaged into the portal. ECO Insight has since its launch beginning of 2015 become the largest performance solution in shipping.
