Approval for marine and offshore applications of CEE Norm’s enclosures
UK company CEE Norm reports that it has introduced an extension to its range of Hensel Enycase enclosures, with new DK cable junction boxes that carry DNV approval for marine and offshore applications.
According to the company, enclosures onboard ships or mounted in offshore installations can face extreme environmental conditions including high temperature, high humidity, shock, vibration, and exposure to corrosive seawater. The new boxes are especially designed to meet the challenging requirements of the offshore industry, being sealed to IP67 and offering protection from submersion in water to depths of 1m for up to 15min. They are acid- and salt-water-resistant, and feature saltwater-proof cable entry via IP66/67 metric knockouts.
The enclosures are manufactured from impact resistant polycarbonate, and are flame retardant and self-extinguishing in accordance with IEC 60 695-2-11 up to 960C. Being halogen-free and silicon-free, no toxic fumes will be released in the event of fire.
Telford-based CEE Norm UK says it distributes a range of industrial plugs and sockets, combination units and RCD units, through 1,500 wholesalers.
