As one of very few nations, Denmark scores maximum points in the annual Flag State Performance Table for 2012, as compiled by the international shipping organizations ICS and ISF.
“Although I am in no way surprised, it is of course gratifying that Denmark, as always, is top in all parameters when we want to represent quality shipping”, says Deputy Director of the Danish Shipowners’ Association, Jan Fritz Hansen.
The table expresses particular a flag state ships’ abilities to live up to the standards of safety, environment and working conditions, as well as official ratification of international agreements and active participation in the International Maritime Organisation’s work.
The other flag states that have achieved maximum points in the inventory, are Caymon Islands, France, Greece, Holland, Isle of Man, Japan, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Sweden and the UK.
