Danish Shipowners strive for minimizing their climate and environmental footprint. Their new website highlights the efficiency of maritime transport and services and illustrates how the Danish shipping industry is working to reduce its impact on the environment and the climate.
“Despite international shipping being the most climate-friendly way to transport goods, we wish to take further responsibility and be a part of the solution by reducing our impact on the environment and the climate,” says Maria Bruun Skipper, Director at the Danish Shipowners’ Association.
Navigatingresponsibly.dk focuses on four of shipping’s current challenges – CO2-emissions, air pollution, ship recycling and ballast water. These are all areas where shipping can and must take further responsibility.
With a number of innovative initiatives Danish shipping companies have already set the course for a more responsible and sustainable future.
”Through facts and examples, we wish to highlight the various initiatives among both small and large Danish shipping companies. The Danish Shipowners’ Association is working continuously to ensure an effective and ambitious climate and environmental regulation of shipping. But it is crucial that the regulation is global and that it is enforced uniformly and effectively. This is the only way to avoid distortion of competition whilst ensuring a real impact on the environment,” says Maria Bruun Skipper.
