The Danish International Registry of Shipping submitted a proposal for new legislation on January 9, aiming to achieve digital ship registration. According to the registry, this will reduce paper-work and time spent on transmission of documents.
In order to make the digitalization of both deeds and mortgages easier, as well as the work routines of registration, the new proposal aims at adapting provisions in the Maritime Act and the Mortgage Bill. These changes will advance the digitalization of the Danish register which is expected to happen in 2020.
Digitalization of ship registration will, amongst other benefits, enable shipping companies to limit time spent on submitting documents for inspection and validation.
This was the goal of the Registry, as it submitted a proposal for new legislation on January 9. Specifically, the Registry believes that it the legislation is adopted, digitalization will become a reality and it will reduce paper-work and time on transmission of documents.
