On 14 January, Damen Shipyards Group along with Gentium Solutions inked a MoU with the Ministry of Industry of Bangladesh in Dhaka, in order to boost the development of shipbuilding and ship repair industry in Bangladesh. Representatives of the Netherlands Embassy in Bangladesh, were also present at the signing ceremony.
With companies shaking their hands, both sides goal to establish and advance the shipbuilding and repair facility in Bangladesh, following the global standards. Namely, all the involved partners in the MoU will undertake a number of vital tasks in this direction.
Moreover, the MoU agreement has as a top priority, the establishment of a shipbuilding and repair facility built to globally recognised environmental and building standards. The facility is estimated to have the capacity to build and also deliver seagoing ships, able to compete in the international marketplace.
We are very pleased to be participating in this MoU. Damen has a long track record of skills and knowledge transfer of which we are immensely proud. It is our philosophy and practice to help develop the shipbuilding and maritime industries in the countries in which we operate.We are very much looking forward to applying our experience, along with our partners Gentium and the Ministry of Industry, here in Bangladesh.

Concluding, Gentium and Damen consortium, goals to facilitate a transfer of technology and knowledge to aid and enhance Bangladeshi personnel develop the skills required to serve the international maritime industry, resulting vital training and employment opportunities.
