The Chinese government decided to ban many reefer shipments through the port of Dalian, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
As Hapag-Lloyd informed, there is a restriction regarding frozen meat and seafood products bound to Dalian, which is China’s number one reefer port.
In the past, previous Covid-19 outbreaks at port cities, including Dalian, have caused similar reefer bans with China suggesting Covid-19 could be transmitted via frozen goods.
Now, Hapag-Lloyd is advising customers to divert reefer containers to other ports such as Tianjin and Qingdao.
