As local sources report, the Columbus cruise ship unexpectedly changed its course and docked at the Felison Cruise Terminal in IJmuiden. The cruise vessel had departed from port of Amsterdam.
Specifically, while the cruise vessel departed from Amsterdam it hit something in the water. Thus, the Port of Amsterdam and the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate were then on board for consultation and the exchange of information.
The vessel, however, continued its journey sailing to the Norwegian Fjords; Yet, it experienced many problems with the rudder.
As a result, the vessel turned around and sailed back to Ijmuiden. Due to the rudder problems, the ship received assistance from two tugboats a few miles outside the pier.
For the time being, the vessel is under inspection. In the possibility of having to be repaired in a dock, all passengers will be disembarked.
