During an operation in which numerous vessels participated, the Iranian boxship Shahraz was refloated on March 2.
The ship was stuck off the Indonesian island of Batam, since May 10 2020, when it was grounded.
In order for the ship to be refloated successfully, significant repair work took place at sea. However, Shahraz still needs to be assessed for further repair work before its owners even consider putting it back into service.
Six months after the ship’s grounding, Shahraz was involved in another incident, as last November another containership, Tina 1, hit the wreck of the Shahraz boxship having left Singapore for Jakarta.
