Furetank has completed its first bunkering of 200 tonnes of ISCC certified Bio-LNG, in collaboration with STX Group and Molgas.
The fueling took place off the coast of Mongstad, Norway, where the 17,945 dwt tanker FURE VIKEN was supplied with 200 tonnes of Bio-LNG. This initiative helps meet the FuelEU Maritime Regulation, which requires a 2% reduction in the greenhouse gas intensity of vessel fuel by 2025.
We used biomethane of the highest environmental standard available in the market. This transaction marks a milestone in our transition to clean fuels, while also supporting European agriculture and biogas production.
…said Björn Stignor, CEO, Furetank.
STX Group and Molgas were responsible for sourcing, liquefaction, and delivery of the Bio-LNG, ensuring compliance with the EU Renewable Energy Directive (REDII).
This also marked Molgas’ first-ever mass-balanced Bio-LNG delivery to a maritime customer in Norway.
