NatPower H and HyNaval have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop hydrogen-based solutions aimed at decarbonizing the maritime sector, with a strong focus on France.

The collaboration centers on building hydrogen and electric refueling stations and supporting the rollout of zero-emission vessels in French ports. NatPower H will contribute its expertise in sustainable energy infrastructure, while HyNaval brings its specialization in hydrogen vessel design and retrofitting, operating from the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux.

Their global refueling network, combined with our expertise in vessel construction and retrofitting, will create a vital ecosystem for hydrogen adoption. Together, we are determined to fast-track the transition to a zero-emission maritime future

… commented Exequiel Cano Lanza, President HyNaval.

A key component of the agreement is a supply deal that makes NatPower H responsible for providing green hydrogen to HyNaval, supporting the production of 20 hydrogen-powered vessels by 2030.

The partners will also assess the feasibility of installing hydrogen refueling infrastructure at key French ports and will collaborate on creating a broader zero-emission fuel network for maritime and inland waterway transport.

The agreement, which runs through the end of 2030 and may be extended, reflects a shared commitment to accelerating the ecological transition in shipping. Both companies aim to leverage each other’s global reach and technical strengths to advance the use of hydrogen in the maritime industry.

Both companies have a bold global expansion vision, and our worldwide network of refueling stations will be strengthened by the locations where HyNaval builds and retrofits vessels. Together, we aim to fast-track the production of the next generation of sustainable boats

… said Andrea Minerdo, Chairman NatPower H.
