A coastal sailing vessel that heading for the Maldives, sank off the island nation’s coast on October 8. One of the eight crew is missing, while the others have been rescued.
MSV Esther Rajathi, was on its way to Male, Maldives’ capital, when the cargo was caught in the poor weather, about 60 nm off the island nation’s coast.
As a result, and due to strong winds, the vessel carrying eight crew members ended up sinking.
Seven crew members were rescued by a vessel crossing the accident site, but another seafare4r has not been found, and efforts are continuing to locate him.
Now, the Coastal Sailing Vessel Owners’ Association contacted the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard to take part in the search and rescue operation.
