CMA CGM informed its customers that it has been hit by another cyber attack. The French company had suffered a similar incident just less than a year.
More specifically, new information alleges that CMA CGM suffered a leak of data on limited customer information. The leaked data includes first and last names, employer, position, email address and phone number.
Currently the company’s IT teams are installing security patches to address the attack.
The company has also advised clients not to share their account passwords or any personal information. Furthermore, clients were asked to check the authenticity of an email requesting to log in to the carrier’s platforms, especially if requested to reset a password.
Last September, CMA CGM experienced another ransomware attack which paralysed much of its IT infrastructure.
CMA CGM is the world’s fourth largest shipping company following Danish Maersk, Geneva-based MSC and Chinese COSCO. All of the top three liners have also suffered cyber attacks in the last three years, including a major breach in Maersk’s systems in 2017 which cost the company financial losses up to USD 300 million.
