The North West Europe area, a high density trading route inside the North Sea ECA, is considered as one of the most challenging PSC areas within the Paris MoU region. The main ports included in this area are: Amsterdam (Netherlands), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Antwerp (Belgium) and Hamburg (Germany).
Key considerations
- Detention rate is very high in Germany (4.68% while Global is 2.85% and Paris MoU 3.55%)
- 60% of inspections in Netherlands’s ports result with at least one deficiency
- Less than 15% of inspections within this regime result with more than 5 deficiencies
- The most challenging deficiencies areas in this part of PSC regime are: MLC (incl. working & living conditions) and fire safety
