According to Canadian Coast Guard, on 26th July, crew members of a cargo vessel reported the bunker oil spill in Nanaimo Harbour.
In particular, the vessel was the Maipo River, a Hong Kong-flagged general cargo ship.
After the incident, three oil spill response vessels had been sent out from the Western Canada Marine Response.
As informed, there are no estimated of how much fuel was spilled.
Each spill-response ship has three crew members, including the coast guard and relevant Nanaimo Port Authority personnel.
The vessel was reportedly scheduled to dock at the Nanaimo Port Authority for two days. The bulk carrier was constructed in 2009.
