ClassNK Classification Society, announced the launch of its released Guidelines for Software Security which target software developers, system integrators, and more. These Guidelines are the third and latest part of the Class’ guidelines, focusing on risk management, concerning the software used onboard vessels.
Specifically, ClassNK outlines the recommended security measures to follow through the development, integration, and operation stages of the software.
The Guidelines reflect a formulation of both guidelines and standards that address each layer of the ClassNK Cyber Security Approach.
In addition, Naoki Saito, General Manager of Maritime Education and Training Certification team commented that ClassNK is pleased with the progress they have made concerning cyber security, when it comes to the software used onboard ships.
The Guidelines for Software Security were developed under the partnership of ClassNk and TÜV Rheinland; The latter is a leader in testing, inspection and certification services providing digital services for safety, cyber security and privacy.
