The inland container ship Yu Hang 18 collided with the berthed bulk carrier Odigitria, near Zhenjiang, on July 6. Both ships sustained damages, while 7 containers fell from Yu Hang 18. According to initial information, the accident took place as the container ship lost control.
Yu Hang 18 was carrying 160 containers from Nantong to Nanjing when it lost control due to difficult weather. This led to the collision with the bulker Odigitria, which at the time was berthed at a port terminal of a local power plant.
Because of the collision, seven container fell from the container ship, but both ships sustained damages.
Currently, the local maritime safety authorities have applied traffic control in the adjacent waterways, while they have also sent a team to salvage the containers.
