China Petroleum Circulation Association (CPCA) and the China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Association (CIQA) officially released the “Marine Methanol Fuel Waterborne Refueling Regulations” and “Marine Methanol Fuel” standards, initiated by CHIMBUSCO.
This is the first set of standards in China for methanol refueling operations and quality control. Furthermore, China Classification Society (CCS) and Bureau Veritas (BV) have issued AIP certificates for a 7,800-ton dual-fuel powered green methanol bunkering vessel to CHIMBUSCO and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry.
China has been been turning more and more towards methanol. To remind, China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO Shipping), State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), and China Certification & Inspection Group (CCIC) recently signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation on the Construction of a Green Methanol Industrial Chain” online.
According to COSCO Shipping, the release of these standards, along with the approval of the vessel by two classification societies, signifies a major step towards completing the first green methanol refueling technology chain in China. This achievement is complemented by the establishment of relevant methanol refueling guidelines and inspection specifications by CCS and BV.
