As the Xinhua news agency reported, the seized ships sailed from Zhejiang and Fujian provinces to the open sea to receive the fuel, and then smuggled it to Jiangsu.
After that, the Coast Guard was alerted for illegal fuel trade in the Nantong sector of the Yangtze River on June 7, and decided to send patrol ships to investigate.
The Coast Guard detained the suspected smugglers on June 8, while the investigation about the smuggling is undergoing.
