Chinese vessel sank in Antarctica
The Maritime Search and Rescue department of the Chilean Navy was alerted to the sinking of the blazing Chinese vessel Kai Xinin the Antarctic Peninsula’s Bransfield Strait.
Another Chinese trawlerFu Rong Hai contacted the responsible shipping company via email, confirming the loss of radar contact ofKai Xin.
The Navy orderedFu Rong Hai to remain on scene until the tugLautaro of the Third Naval Zone arrived at the Strait of Bransfield, about 120 kilometers east of the Naval Base Arturo Prat and regarded as the last position of fishing.
TheLautaro, equipped with the material needed to combat pollution is making a wreck gleanings, in order to confirm the collapse and establish containment procedures hydrocarbons if some fuel trace display.
Better weather conditions were necessary for a flight over the area again.
