Stena Premium, a chemical/oil products tanker, is still in the Port of Cabedelo, Brazil, since April 27. The ship is quarantined because of positive COVID-19 cases on board.
Northern Marine Management stated that it hoped the ships would leave the Port on May 21, after serving a 14-day quarantine, after tests were completed on May 7.
However, 2 new positive results among the crew meant that ship must remain under quarantine until June 4.
Overall, 12 of the 26 crew are COVID-10 positive. Of them, two crew members have received medical attention ashore. The rest of the crew remain on board.
Northern Marine Management added that it has implemented COVID-19 prevention measures onboard the ship, like self-isolation, and regular sanitization of all appropriate areas and surface.
Commenting on the occasion, the company said the crew shows resilience, ”understanding that everything that can be done to support the crew is being done”.
