International maritime regulators expect that the establishment of safety rules for autonomous ships will be a lengthy process, despite the fact that researchers have advanced relevant technology, saying that robot ships could be a reality in the oceans in the next few years.

MPA Singapore warned that it will test an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. The operation will take place north of Small Craft Anchorage ‘A’. The testing will occur from 13 May 2019 to 17 May 2019. A safety boat will also be in attendance at all times to warn and re-direct craft in the vicinity to keep clear of the working area.
China has tested the world’s first armed amphibious drone boat with success. Built by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, under China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), the drone ship ‘Marine Lizard’, passed delivery checks and left the factory on April 8. In its ship form, ‘Marine Lizard’ is a trimaran fueled by a diesel-powered hydrojet and is able to reach a maximum speed of 50 knots while also being stealth.
