The maritime authorities are investigating a bulk carrier which is suspected of colliding with the fishing vessel Min Jin, on August 30.
Due to the collision, the fishing vessel sank in the Taiwan Straits while 12 sailors are missing and 2 were declared dead.
According to information, the suspected cargo ship is under the surveillance of the maritime authorities for inquiry. It is also speculated that the cargo ship either fled the accident area without providing assistance or did not notice the collision.
The maritime administration will inspect the ship for structural damage due to the collision. It will also check the certificates, voyage data, and position of the ship during the accident.
What is more, the Master and crew of the cargo ship will be interviewed, while the ship will not be allowed to leave until the authorities allow them.
In case they are found guilty, the crew and master of the ship may face criminal charges.
Currently, rescue effort for the missing fishing vessel crew is ongoing.
