On 3 May a fire erupted onboard motor freighter Roadrunner which was moored in the harbor of Dintelmond, Netherlands.
The fire broke out in the vessel’s gallery, with two crewmembers attempting to extinguish the blaze. In addition, the fire brigade deployed the fireboat Furie 4, while additional fire engines from Dinteloord and Willemstad provided support from the shore.
The fire was eventually brought under control and was extinguished.
However, as a result of the fire, the ship’s captain sustained burns to his upper arm and suffered from smoke inhalation and was transported to the hospital.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
