Seafarers Voices on Piracy
In this third video of Seamen’s Church, CaptJawaid Khan of MV Albedo, held captive by Somali pirates for nearly two years, describes how his family had to raise funds for his release and the release of other Pakistani crew, because the ship’s owner could not afford the ransom. As of February 2014, 15 additional crew of the MV Albedo have not been released. Eleven crew remain held captive in Somalia, and four crew have been declared missing following the ship’s sinking in July 2013.
