The captain of an oil service ship died, as he refused to leave the vessel that was sinking on the Egyptian side of the Red Sea, on June 2.
Namely, the ship’s drowned while he was overseeing the rescue of his crew, as he refused to abandon ship until all crew members were rescued. In addition, the body of and engineer was also found after the accident.
At the time of the incident, the ship “Inspecta 7” was working with an oil company, and is affiliated with a Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth body in Ras Ghareb, local media report.
After the incident was reported, the Egyptian authorities and rescue personnel immediately went to the area, managing to rescue 11 people who were on board the vessel at the time.
