Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd has received an order to construct six large container ships, each with a capacity of 13,600 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).
The six vessels will measure 336 meters in length and 51 meters in width, designed for low energy consumption and high speed. This contract was signed in Shanghai with Canada-based Seaspan Corp, and brings the total number of large container ship orders received by Hudong-Zhonghua to over 100.
This contract represents the third batch of a total of 15 large container ship orders the company has secured in 2024, and it is the first contract to be settled in RMB.
Delivery is expected between 2026 and 2028.
