Oman Oil Marketing Company initiated its fuel bunkering operations by barge at the Port of Duqm, in order to expand ship-to-ship services in the Sultanate’s maritime logistics hubs.
Previously, Oman Oil Marketing Company signed two agreements with Port of Duqm Company to set up a bunkering terminal.
Under this agreement, Oman Oil Marketing Company will have a license to provide heavy fuel oil and marine diesel oil, as well as marine lubricants to ships calling at the port and surrounding waters.
Furthermore, the company will lease a special site at the port to carry out its operations.
The agreement serve as new additions for the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD) as it will enable the Port of Duqm to meet the marine fuel needs of the ships call in the port or under maintenance at the drydock. This will enhance the business and economic activity in the zone.
David Kalife, CEO of Oman Oil Marketing Company, said that a full-fledged bunker supply facility is planned to be created in the Port of Duqm, in order to to serve industries in Oman.
From his part, Reggy Vermeulen, CEO of Port of Duqm, stated that this project has the ability to enhance the flow of commercial and cargo vessels in the port.
The value of investment at the bunkering terminal that will be created at Duqm Port is $50 million of fixed assets.
