A Panamax bulker collided with a fishing vessel in Zhejiang Province waters, on February 23. At the time of the incident, the fishing vessel had seven crew on board. Of them, two were rescued, while the remaining five are missing.
Namely, a fishing vessel with 7 crewmembers on board was struck by the bulker Dong Fang Sheng, in East China sea in Zhejiang Province waters, about 80 nautical miles off Ningbo.
Due to the collision, the fishing vessel sank. The local maritime rescue centre deployed patrol boats and instructed a nearby ship to join the search and rescue operations, thanks to which two were rescued.
Now, a search and rescue operation is underway to find the remaining five men.
According to sources, the bulk carrier was heading from Tangshan, China, Yellow sea, to Zhuhai, South China. The ship received orders to stop its voyage, and wait for investigation.
