Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has joined the SEA-LNG coalition, enhancing its commitment to LNG as a lower-emission marine fuel.
As informed, BSM has more than 100 gas carriers under management, over half of which are LNG carriers. It also manages close to 30 LNG dual-fuel ships and presently 2 LNG bunker vessels, with more coming into management soon.
SEA-LNG is a coalition of companies and organizations in the maritime industry that promotes the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel. The coalition aims to advocate for LNG’s role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality in shipping.
SEA-LNG brings together various stakeholders, including shipowners, fuel suppliers, classification societies, and other maritime industry players, to share knowledge, develop best practices, and support projects related to LNG as a sustainable and viable marine fuel option.
BSM joining represents a significant milestone for SEA-LNG. We welcome our first ship manager into the coalition, adding valuable insight and many years of experience in LNG as a marine fuel.
… said Peter Keller, Chairman of SEA-LNG
Meanwhile, Nick Topham, the Managing Director of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement Germany, added that BSM is committed to LNG as a marine fuel. He noted that it is a proven, technically mature solution already in use on many ships, with a well-developed supply and bunkering infrastructure.
Recently, SEA-LNG has been expanding its membership. In early July, RINA and ROTOBOOST joined the SEA-LNG coalition to offer their input to boost SEA-LNG’s reach.
