Captain Dr. Seyedvahid Vakili has dedicated the past two decades to the maritime industry, showcasing a remarkable commitment to the field. His journey began as a seafarer, where he gained valuable experience in both ocean-going vessels and offshore operations. Currently, he serves as a devoted research fellow at the University of Southampton (UoS) in the United Kingdom, with a primary focus on sustainability, energy, and achieving net-zero impact within the maritime sector. His research spans from ships to onshore infrastructure, including ports and shipyards.
Prior to joining the University of Southampton, Dr. Vakili held the position of an Associate Researcher at the specialized Maritime Energy Management (MEM) division of the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmo, Sweden. His unwavering dedication to his field has earned him significant recognition, including distinctions from WMU and a postdoctoral research fellowship from the University of Southampton.
