Norm Witt joined the Ørsted Team in July of 2022 after retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard. As Ørsted’s Marine Affairs Manager for the Mid-Atlantic, he is responsible for all maritime stakeholder engagement and coordination in support of Ørsted’s Mid-Atlantic projects, including Ocean Wind 1 and 2 off the coast of New Jersey, and Skipjack Wind off the Maryland/Delaware coast.

With over 23 years of experience as a Coast Guard officer and a diverse operational background, Witt served in a variety of assignments during his military career. After an initial sea tour as deck watch officer aboard a Coast Guard cutter, he transitioned to the marine safety and security specialty and completed multiple operational tours on the East, West, and Gulf Coasts. Witt’s later assignments included Executive Officer of the Pacific Strike Team and Commanding Officer of Marine Safety Unit Savannah. Additionally, he served internationally, having completed military assistance/security cooperation tours in Liberia and Fiji.

As Commanding Officer of CG Marine Safety Unit Savannah, Witt served as Captain of the Port and Federal On-Scene Coordinator directing response and salvage/removal operations following the grounding/capsizing of M/V GOLDEN RAY, a 650’ roll-on/roll-off vessel which grounded just outside the navigational channel while departing the port of Brunswick, GA.

Originally from Paris, KY, Witt graduated from the University of Tampa and served four years as an officer in the U.S. Army prior to transitioning to the Coast Guard. He is married and has three daughters.
