Ian leads Hill Dickinson's marine casualty offering in the APAC region. With over 40 years international maritime experience, as a master mariner & commercial/admiralty lawyer with a seagoing, ship owning, commercial/technical management background, coupled with IMO and trade association experience, he advises and represents his client base of ship owners, managers, charterers, slot charterers and insurers in respect of casualties (vessel, offshore and port infrastructure); cargo/machinery loss and damage; pollution; salvage (including wreck removal) and the claims in contract and tort that flow from such casualties.

Admitted as a solicitor in 2002, Ian first served at sea in 1979 rising to chief officer before completing an MBA in 1993 and taking on SPV ship owning company director and senior ship management appointments.
