Georgia Spencer-Rowland

Georgia is the Manager (Shipping Policy) for the International Chamber of Shipping.

The Policy team supports the Shipping Policy Committee at ICS, which sets the global shipping industry’s agenda on a wide variety of shipping policy matters, including industry positions on trade restrictive measures and taxation. In this capacity, Georgia conducts research to inform industry positions on a number of policy files, often engaging with international bodies such as the UN, WTO and OECD. She also acts as Secretary to the ICS Canals Sub-Committee, which sets and oversees the global shipping industry’s agenda and official positions on matters related to the world’s major international shipping canals, including the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal. Georgia also works closely with a number of international regulatory bodies of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), coordinating ICS representation at the Facilitation (FAL) Committee and the Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments (III).

ICS: ESG performance is a key differentiator in the maritime market

In that regard, it is important for the industry stakeholders to prioritize materiality assessment in ESG factors and tailor their strategies accordingly, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach.
