Carl Schou

Carl Schou is the CEO and President of Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM). Before being appointed CEO and President, Carl was WSM’s Vice President Manning. He joined WSM in 2005, bringing in more than 30 years of combined experiences in sailing as a staff captain on cruise ships and marine technical operations from classification society to ship owning. In the past 14 years as the CEO and President, Carl has doubled the fleet of ships in management through organic growth. He oversees the general management, strategic and business development for the company. Carl’s seafaring background provides him the advantage of applying on board skill-based knowledge to on shore ship management operations. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Carl has been lobbying to the authorities, government officials and media regarding designating seafarers as essential workers. As an ex-seafarer himself, the treatment seafarers faced during the pandemic is a matter very close to his heart. Carl is currently based in WSM’s global head office in Singapore.
