Capt Rohit Tandon

Captain Rohit Tandon is a highly experienced master mariner with a remarkable career spanning over 30 years in the shipping industry. He began his seafaring career in 1994 and has sailed on various types of cargo vessels, including tankers, bulk carriers, and reefers. In 2007, Captain Tandon transitioned from being a captain at sea to working ashore and relocated to Cyprus. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Cyprus office of Fleet Management Ltd. (FML). FML as group, head office in Hong Kong, is currently the second largest independent third-party ship management company globally. FML manages a fleet of more than 700 ships worldwide and has offices across the globe. At FML’s Cyprus office, Captain Rohit Tandon holds the position of handling the complete Marine department and serves as the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO) of the company. He has been instrumental in implementing ISO standards within the organization and achieving certifications well ahead of time. Some notable certifications include MLC certification in the office and on ships voluntarily in 2009, ISO 50001 Energy Efficiency & Green Award Certification in 2013, TMSA 3 in 2017, ISO 27001 Information Security Management System in 2018, and ISO 45001 in 2019. Captain Rohit Tandon is a member of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers (FICS) in the UK and holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management & International Trade as well as Operational Management from prestigious universities in India. Outside of his professional endeavours in the maritime industry, Capt. Tandon is an active member of Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals develop their communication and leadership skills. He also contributes to the maritime community by guest lecturing at the University of Nicosia on various professional maritime subjects. Captain Rohit Tandon is a strong advocate and supporter of the shipping industry in Cyprus and the Cyprus Registry Flag for vessels. He firmly believes in the significant role that the shipping industry plays in the economic growth and development of the island.
