Australian’s Pilbara Ports Authority has cleared major Port of Rio Tinto as part of cyclone operations. The Authority addressed that ports of Ashburton, Dampier and Port Hedland were under preparations for tropical cyclone ‘Riley’, which was offshore of northern Western Australia.
Mainly, Pilbara Ports Authority operate as the world’s largest export iron ore hub.
The port was scheduled to be shut down by Friday 1pm, local time.
According to the statement
The Port of Dampier will begin clearing vessels from the anchorages and terminals in a staged manner.
Rio Tinto’s Parker Point and East Intercourse Island operations at Dampier port have a capacity of 155 million tonnes a year of iron ore.

Concluding, as stated by Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology, ‘Riley’ cyclone was passing west southwest, parallel to the Australian coastline on Friday. Yet, the Meteorology warns that the cyclone may strengthen to category 3.
