Iron ore fines must be carried and tested in accordance with the draft IMSBC Code schedule
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) have issued an exemption certificate stating that iron ore fines must be carried and tested in accordance with the draft IMSBC Code schedule.
According to the exemption, a person is required to comply with subsection 7.2 of Marine Order 34 (Solid bulk cargoes) 2007 if the cargo is iron ore being loaded at a port in Australia.
The person should ensure that iron ore and iron ore fines are loaded, stowed and carried in accordance with the IMSBC Code as if it were amended by the draft amendments relating to the carriage and testing of iron ore fines set out in Annexes 1 to 3 of IMO Circular DSC.1/Circ.71 and the person complies with all provisions of SOLAS Chapter VI that do not mention the IMSBC Code
This exemption has effect from January 1st, 2014
