The Federal Court in Australia sentenced Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean, the Norwegian car carrier, fining the company $18.25 million in Australia’s long-running criminal cartel case.
Specifically, Norwegian car carrier operator Wallenius Wilhelmsen reported that the Federal Court of Australia issued a fine of A$24m ($18.2m) to the company in a criminal cartel case initiated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in 2015.
Following the ACCC investigation, Wallenius was charged on August 23, 2019, for its role in the cartel. These charges came after convictions against Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), in August 2017 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd (K-Line) in August 2019 for cartel conduct in the same cartel WWO has allegedly participated in.

Following, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission began an investigation on the practices of the company in 2015, focusing on the company’s shipping services.
