The Commander of Europe’s Counter Piracy operations says he fears tactical success against Somali pirates could lead to less support for the Task Force in the future.
Since Europe’s Naval Force, EU NAVFOR, was allowed to strike pirate targets on land in May, rates of piracy have rapidly declined.
But Rear Admiral Duncan Potts says member states must remain committed, or that success could be reversed.
